When they needed food — you helped
“I want people to know that The Salvation Army cares about others.” – Ruth
For seniors like Ken and Ruth, the pandemic took a difficult toll on their strained resources. Fortunately, they discovered that The Salvation Army, Ventura Corps has a food pantry four days a week. Since then, they have been able to get what they need and not worry about running out of food by the end of the month. “As my husband needed more medical attention, The Salvation Army was able to adapt to our needs. We needed more premade, microwaveable meals and they got it for us. We also signed up for meals to be delivered because we couldn’t get to the food pantry…This was so helpful,” says Ruth.
Support and friendship for seniors
Now, not only have they found a reliable food resource, but they are also attending family programs and the weekly senior lunch, where they’ve made many friends. “I want people to know that The Salvation Army cares about others. We found a family here at The Salvation Army and others can find a family here, too,” says Ken.
Ruth also shares, “I didn’t realize how much The Salvation Army did until I came here. My husband and I feel like somebody cares about us here at The Salvation Army. Everyone on staff at The Salvation Army shows so much love to us. I recommend to everyone that needs food or a place where they can feel welcomed and cared for, come to The Salvation Army.”
