THE SALVATION ARMY’S SALLY AWARDS

Honoring  Mayor Eric Garcetti & Joan A. Payden, Founder of Payden & Rygel

Los Angeles, Calif. June 11, 2019 -- The Salvation Army’s Sally Awards Gala in Los Angeles has a pedigree going back to the gala’s first honoree, movie legend Cecil B. DeMille. In the interim such luminaries as Jeanie Buss, Grant & Lysa Heslov, Roma Downey, Rev. Billy Graham, President Ronald Reagan and American icon Bob Hope have received the Award from The Salvation Army for their commitment to others. On Wednesday, June 19, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, 9500 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, The Salvation Army continues this tradition with its presentation of the 2019 Sally Award to Joan A. Payden, Founder, President & CEO, Payden & Rygel, and the inaugural Judge Harry Pregerson its Humanitarian of the Year Award to the Honorable Eric Garcetti.  Ben Mankiewicz – Primetime Host, Turner Classic Movies, returns as Master of Ceremonies for The Sally Awards.

The late 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Jurist, Judge Harry Pregerson, played a vital role in helping The Salvation Army create the Bell Shelter - one of the largest and most comprehensive homeless shelters in the U.S., as well as the Westwood Transitional Living Center for Families and the Bessie Pregerson Child Development Center.

Perseverance and hope is what The Salvation Army is all about every day of the year – and it manifests itself in the more than 1.7 million meals it serves, the more than 400,000 nights of shelter it provides and the programming and services to over 20,000 at-risk inner city youths on an annual basis and food, clothing and spiritual help to all in need without discrimination.

The Salvation Army’s Sally Awards Gala will be held on Wednesday June 19, 2019, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The reception starts at 6:00 p.m., dinner at 7:00 p.m. For Media Inquiries contact:  Robert Brennan at (818) 648 9098 or Robert.Brennan@usw.salvationarmy.org
