Feeling blessed, thanks to neighbors like you.
“When I came to The Salvation Army, I saw hope.” – Estela
Estela and her husband had stable jobs and three wonderful children. Then, when Estela was pregnant and about to give birth to their fourth child, her husband fell seriously ill. Unable to work, these parents struggled to support their family and put food on the table. That’s when Estela heard about The Salvation Army in Pasadena. It was an incredible blessing.
Estela was shy at first, admitting she didn’t know what to expect or what to say when she came to The Salvation Army. But she was greeted with kindness and warmth.
Resources help ease a family’s worry
She remembers the help she received when she was in the hospital, after giving birth. She says, “I was thinking that I couldn’t afford a car seat because they are expensive. Then, The Salvation Army provided a stroller and a car seat, and I felt so relieved.” She also remembers that the first blanket her baby received came from The Salvation Army. She says, “I still have it. I feel that I’m home and I have family here.”
When we come together as a community to take care of each other like family, that’s when God’s blessings shine brightly. Estela is grateful and says, “I’m grateful that God never left me alone; he always puts good people around me.”
