A mother’s life and hope restored— because of you
A safe place to stay and a warm meal can mean everything, especially for a mother escaping the nightmare of domestic violence. Sandra arrived at The Salvation Army’s Door of Hope nine months pregnant and scared. As her water broke that first night at the shelter, a happy future seemed impossibly out of reach.
But at this sanctuary, Sandra received essentials for her baby and the support she needed for her other three small children to join her. Within a few weeks, they were all living safely together as a family for the first time in years.
“I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude.”
For Sandra, The Salvation Army’s Door of Hope has been a lifeline: “There’s always food on the table and all four of my kids have a bed.” This support system has made it possible for her family to thrive, even during difficult times. Sandra says, “The Salvation Army also helped me with formula for the baby when I stopped breastfeeding.”
A chance to thrive
Not having to worry about her children’s next meal or providing essentials is really comforting for Sandra, and she is truly grateful for such love and generosity. In addition to essentials, The Salvation Army helps her children attend summer camp and makes their holidays brighter. Sandra says, “Christmas was a very big help for us. I didn’t have money and they were able to get a few toys for each of my kids. I’m very appreciative.”
This is the kind of wonderful impact you make through your donations. You are helping people just like Sandra and her children thrive!
