A family eager to give back
“It’s a great feeling to know that God’s placed us here.” – Emily
Emily, Brian, and their three-year-old daughter Sophia have embraced the spirit of service and dedicated themselves to helping others in need. It’s that passion for helping that led the Reeds to serve at The Salvation Army’s Red Shield food pantry in El Cajon.
The young couple spends countless hours welcoming their neighbors, and ensuring they leave with a full cart of food and a smile on their faces.
Having both grown up with food and housing insecurity, the Reeds feel compelled to help others. Emily says, “God has blessed us enough to be in these positions where we're able to give back. And we're able to come full circle because of God's faithfulness.”
Neighbors ready to serve and help!
Emily and Brian juggle responsibilities as parents and Salvation Army Cadets. They lead as an example through love, faith, and teamwork. Little Sophia helps out, too. It’s important to her family that she learns about giving back at an early age.
This young family inspires us with their dedication and willingness to lend a helping hand. This winter, we know they will be ready to serve their community with love in their hearts.
Thanks to good neighbors like you, our cadets are working in communities to bring food to the arms of those who need it most. That’s the power of your gift in action!
